Dolphins star Daewood Davis was carted off the field and rushed to hospital following a collision with Jaguars linebacker Dequan Jackson on Saturday night.
With 8:32 remaining in the preseason game at Jacksonville’s TIAA Bank Field, play was suspended after Davis went down from the collision with Jackson and laid motionless on the field.
The 24-year-old was then attended to by medical staff from both teams before being immobilized on a back board and carted off.
The Dolphins confirmed after the game that Davis is now conscious after being taken to Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville for further examination.
Miami said in a statement: ‘Dolphins WR Daewood Davis suffered an injury in tonight’s game and has been taken to Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville for further evaluation. He is conscious and has movement in all extremities.’

Davis was running a slant when James Blackman threw a pass, only for Jackson to hit him in the head on the incompletion as the two players and covering defensive back Kaleb Hayes came together.
After Jackson drew a penalty for unnecessary roughness, Davis remained face down on the turf before teammates and medical personnel intervened.
‘We’re just hoping for a full recovery. Have had some good news and hope to have even better news going forward,’ Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters after the game while fighting back tears.
‘He’s a great spirit, first and foremost. He’s magnetic. He’s got a full personality to him. His teammates really root for (him). That tells you everything you need to know about a human being.’
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also paid tribute to his teammate after his heavy injury on Saturday night.
‘A lot of guys respect him, he’s very well-respected in the locker room. He’s a great player, he’s a great teammate,’ Tagovailoa said.
‘He’s a great person. It just would’ve hard to have gone back out after seeing something like that.’
Davis, who was signed by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent, is expected to remain in hospital overnight.
It remains to be seen how serious the former Oregon and Western Kentucky college star’s injury is, with just two weeks to go until Miami’s regular-season opener against the Chargers.
The Dolphins trailed the Jaguars 31-18 in their final preseason outing at the time play was suspended.
